Born in Northern Portuguese town of Lamego, the playmaker joins North East United FC from Liga NOS side Moreirense. He graduated from U.S.C Paredes' Academy after joining them at the age of 6. He then signed for Freamunde and spent 3 years there. After a spell in Tondela, where he made his Liga NOS debut, he joined another Portuguese top tier club C.D. Feirense. Having played over 100 matches in the top division of Portugal, Machado is still in his prime.
The 27 year old now heads to India with plenty of experience playing in Portugal. Coincidentally, this also happens to be the first time he'll be playing abroad. It will be intriguing to watch him play under Highlanders' new coach Gerard Nus. We are enthused to watch him run down the wings and score for us. We welcome Luis to the NorthEast of India.
