Sylla has a range of experience of playing in France, Belgium and even with English club Queens Park Rangers. In France Ligue 2, he was joint top scorer for Le Mans with 9 goals in 2011/12 season. In 2013, Sylla joined Belgian club Zulte Waregem for two seasons. On completion of his stint with Zulte Waregem, Sylla moved on to another Belgian club Anderlecht in 2015.
Sylla's performance with Anderlecht that season brought him to the radar of English club Queens Park Rangers, with whom he signed the following season on a three year deal. He proved the club right by finishing as the top scorer of QPR in his first season with 10 goals. The following season he added another 7 goals to his tally. At the end of his second season with QPR, the Guinean returned to Zulte Waregem in January, 2019. From Zulte he went for a short loan spell with another Belgian top tier club Oostende.
On international front, Sylla is a member of Guinean national football team. He represented his country in 2015 Africa cup of nations and has 5 goals in 27 appearances to his name.
Sylla joins NEUFC with a huge pool of experience. His deadly headers have been a subject of interest of the NorthEast United fans since the announcement of his signing. NEUFC struggled with scoring goals last season. Sylla's signing is expected to alleviate that problem.
Highlander Brigade is excited to welcome Idrissa Sylla to the Hotbed of Indian football and wishes the Guinean international the very best for a fruitful season in the Indian Super League.
